Hi! My name is Kathy Keating, and I’m an American living in Melbourne, Australia. If you’re reading this, then chances are good you’re either related to me or know me personally. If not, then please let me take this opportunity to tell you a little bit about myself.
I grew up in a small town in New York and led a pretty sheltered life until my early adulthood. After graduating from college and working for a few years in “the real world,” I married my amazing husband, and we moved to Amsterdam, the Netherlands. We lived there for almost seven years, and we really loved it. We visited Australia in 2007 and 2008, and we really liked both the country and the people—so much so, in fact, that we decided to move there! My husband found a job in Melbourne in 2009, and we moved here within a month! I’m still getting to know the city, but it has a great atmosphere, and the Aussies are some of the friendliest people I’ve ever met! I think I’ll enjoy my time here, and I highly recommend visiting, if you have the chance.
Although these international moves have been really challenging for me at times, I know I’m incredibly lucky to be having these experiences! I’ve been able to live in cultures different from my own and travel around the world too. I feel like I’ve been able to grow as a person in ways I might never have done had I remained in the States.
